Truffle Capital, an investor in Eco-Carbone, is a European private equity firm originally set up for investments in spin-offs from companies active in the IT, Energy, and Life Sciences sectors
- Founded in 2001, Eco-Carbone provides consulting and project development services in the area of climate change mitigation. Led by a team of experts in industry, agronomy, project finance and environmental management, Eco-Carbone acts as a consultant to coal mines for the recuperation of methane emissions and their transformation into energy : these projects result in important amounts of « carbon credits » which are then sold on the international markets.
- The company’s other major activity consists of producing biodiesels from Jatropha, an promising inedible oleaginous tree that grows in semi-arid conditions and thus is not in competition with agricultural crops. Eco-Carbone works with agronomists and an associated research laboratory to develop improved, high quality Jatropha seeds and plants.
Following a €2.1 million investment by Truffle Capital, Eco-Carbone continues to develop its presence on the markets for carbon credits and Jatropha.
